The purpose of this SIG is to represent the users of data processes, products, and services as related to data definition, model, and transfer standards for asset management and for E&P in general. This includes the uses of data store solution products and services, related industry work practices, and related industry standards.

The initial focus of the SIG was the use of data store products that manage results of E&P studies and projects, often called Results or Corporate Data Stores.

The current inventory of Standards associated with this SIG includes many reference data standards, units of measure standards, coordinate reference system standards, reference data models, document and metadata - digital data cataloguing standards (taxonomy, semantics, ontologies), and global unique well identifier standards.
