Second Phase of the Energistics Technical Architecture Work Group Begins

28 Jan 09

All member IT architecture groups are invited to participate.

The first work product of the Energistics Technical Architecture Work Group was the Web Services Interoperability Standards, Version 1.0, published in December 2008. Energistics is now beginning preparations for the second phase of activity for this work group with orientation meetings and recruiting of new participants.

Web Services Interoperability Standards

These standards reference a set of existing published technology standards, along with any relevant constraints (‘narrowing’) on those standards, to which internally developed applications can adhere and which can be used as part of the procurement process for new applications/tools to ensure interoperability of interfaces (i.e. Web Services) between organizations.

The document can be accessed from the Industry Services SIG Web page.

Second Phase Recruiting and Orientation Meetings

The future work of this Work Group is intended to include defining a consistent technical architecture reference that can apply to future versions of all of the Energistics Web Services and XML Data Exchange Standards Families. This work will be done in close cooperations with the other Special Interest Groups, including the WITSML SIG, PRODML SIG, and RESQML SIG.

All Energistics member organizations (and prospective future members) are encouraged to be represented in this work group for its next phase of activity.

Orientation meetings will be held in-person and remotely

  • to provide background on the first phase work to new participants,
  • to provide background on current Energistics Web Services / Data Exchange industry standards, and
  • to engage in discussions leading to agreement on the scope and timing of the next phase work deliverables and milestones.

The first orientation meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2009 (1:30 PM to 4:00 PM) in the Energistics Houston office.
