WITSML Version 1.4.0 Release Candidate Available for Public Review

The following WITSML Specifications are under public review from July 31 through August 31, 2008. Comments and questions should be directed to Energistics by sending e-mail to Energistics.

WITSML Version 1.4.0 Release Candidate

This release is a minor update to WITSML Version of v1.3.1.1. Changes are itemized in a change detail file.

• A summary of the contents of the downloadable files.
• All files in the v1.4.0rc API specification. This includes the normative doc, wsdl and xsd files and the non-normative example and stylesheet files.
• All files in the v1.4.0rc.1 Data Schema. This includes the normative xsd and data files and the non-normative files such as example and stylesheet files.
• The v1.4.0rc derived Data Schema files. This includes both the read variant and the write variant for each object.

Following formal publication, this version should be used for commercial implementations instead of v1.3.1.1.

Following formal publication of Version 1.4.0 as the Current Active Version, the previously released Version 1.2 will be deprecated and Version 1.3.1.0 (API) / 1.3.1.1 (Data) will become the Current Stable Version. New commercial implementations of depecated versions are strongly discouraged by the WITSML Special Interest Group.

Prior to formal publication of Version 1.4.0, an XSL transformation file will be made available to convert v1.3.1.1 XML files to v1.4.0 XML files for a subset of the WITSML objects. Transforms in the reverse direction will also be supported. A spreadsheet will document a mapping between the v1.3.1 and v1.4 schemas.

The schemas are defined and viewed as W3C XML Schema files however a spreadsheet which summarizes the content is available.
